Who is New Hat?
New Hat is a non-linear style Telecine boutique operating out of a state-of-the-art facility in Santa Monica. Launched in 2008, New Hat offers the absolute best in digital color correction for commercial, television, music video, documentary and feature films.
What is Color Correction?
Color correction, or color grading, is the integral post-production process of altering or enhancing the colors within a filmed image. Functions of color correction vary from technical to creative, depending on the client’s goals toward the final image.
Technically, color grading establishes continuity within a scene and corrects variations throughout the material (i.e. film errors, white balance, varied lighting conditions.) New Hat’s skilled forces make color correction an art form in itself by achieving stylized treatments impossible to capture with the camera alone. Creatively, color grading can establish the desired ‘look’ of the work by manipulating the scene’s color to set mood. This particular craft has set trends for what have become some of the most iconic and stylized images in film, television and music video.
