After graduating from UCSB with a BA in Film Studies, Jon Pehlke began his career at Next Element by Deluxe (then known as Hollywood Intermediate.) As Senior Editor, Jon was instrumental in the industry’s transition away from traditional tape-based operations, helping to develop one of the first file-based digital post-production workflows for the RED camera. Furthering his reputation as a technological leader, Jon also worked closely with software developers at FilmLight to help create specific tools and features within Baselight, a process that would become vital to New Hat’s workflows in the future.

In addition to developing a more efficient digital intermediate workflow, Jon supervised each step of the finishing process from online editing, visual effects, titling, HD mastering and color correction. In late 2011, Jon brought his vast digital intermediate and Baselight expertise to New Hat, where he works closely with Doug Delaney in our DI theatre. In his free time, Jon enjoys traveling, playing guitar, hiking and preparing for the birth of his first child!
